Family fun day at Phoenix Centre in Wallington

Sutton Council will hold an Information and Family Fun Day for youngsters with disabilities and their families.

There will be a chance for children and young people aged up to 19-years-old to bounce on trampolines, meet farm animals, learn circus skills and take part in drumming workshops.

While all the fun is going on, parents and carers will be able to speak with local service providers who will be there to provide information and advice.

The free event returns for its seventh year on Saturday, February 18, from 10am to 3pm at the Phoenix Centre Wallington.

In celebration of the 2012 Olympics, this year’s theme is “around the world”.

Councillor Dave Callaghan, executive member for children, families and youth services said: “The Olympics coming to our city is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we want as many residents as possible to join in the celebrations.

“The family fun day is a great chance to have a family day out, with a host of fun activities for children of all ages and their parents.

“There is a lot of support for children with additional needs and their families, but it can sometimes be hard to work out exactly what help there is for your family, and how best to access it.

The family fun day provides an opportunity to talk to people from a whole range of groups, and get ideas about different services and activities that are available.”

Families will need to book some activities in advance. A booking form is available at sutton.gov.uk/familyfunday.

The closing date for all bookings is Tuesday, January 31. For more information call the Sutton Family Information Service on 020 8770 6000.
